Review the approval stages displayed

Applications move through multiple approval stages depending on the credit limit requested. Each stage is shown as a labelled header above the application card. Common stages include:

StageWhat it means
Initial Risk ReviewThe application is being assessed against risk knockout rules before proceeding.
Limit Review's Final ApprovalA limit review is pending final sign-off from the approvers team.
Credit Application's Final ApprovalThe full credit application is awaiting final approval before the limit is confirmed.

⚠ Note: Higher credit limits may require multiple approval levels (e.g. Level 1, Level 2). Each level must be cleared before the application progresses to the next stage.

5

Select the Assigned To button

Click on the application card to open it. At the top of the application detail screen, you will see a row of action buttons. Select the Assigned To tab to see who is responsible for the current approval step.

Troubleshooting

ISSUE

The Assigned To section is blank or shows no reviewer

Cause

The approval step has not yet been allocated to a reviewer or team. This can occur immediately after a workflow is created or when a previous stage has just been completed.

Resolution

  • Wait a few minutes and refresh the page — assignments may still be processing.
  • If the step remains unassigned for an extended period, contact the Trade Shield support team for assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many approval levels can my application go through?

The number of approval levels depends on the credit limit requested. Higher limits may require multiple review stages, including both risk review and final approvals. Your organisation's approval configuration determines the exact number.

Q: Why does my application show a "Pending Review" status?

This means the application is awaiting action from the assigned reviewer or team. Select the Assigned To tab in the workflow to see who is responsible for the current step and contact them directly if needed.

Q: Can I track all approval steps in one place?

Yes. The Workflow Overview section displays the current stage for all applications that have been initiated. You can filter by department or use the search bar to find a specific application quickly.

Q: What should I do if I suspect an approval delay?

Check the Assigned To field to confirm who is responsible. If the step has not progressed for an extended period, contact your finance or approvals team directly, or reach out to Trade Shield support.
