? 3 min read    3 steps

⚠ What is this error?

The most common error you will see when you are not able to click on the blue Open button or the View button (as shown in the To Do section) is a 401 or 404 Error. This article explains why it happens and how to resolve it.

Why does this error occur? The most common cause

The most common reason for seeing a 404 Error is that a user is attempting to open or view an application that is currently sitting with the applicant to complete. You cannot action an application that is not sitting with your organisation.

The best way to confirm this is to check which workflow stage the application currently sits in. If the application is in either of the following stages, it means it is with your applicant and is awaiting completion and submission:

Basic Credit Questionnaire
Request to Complete Information

⚠ Note: You cannot open or action an application while it sits at a stage assigned to your applicant. Follow the steps below to confirm the stage and identify who to contact.

1

Check the current workflow stage

To check which stage the application is currently in, locate the application in your Workflow Overview. The Current Stage field will confirm where the application sits in the workflow process.

ⓘ Tip: For a full list of workflow stages and their definitions, refer to the Workflow Stages and Definitions article in the Knowledge Centre.

2

Identify the responsible team members

Once you have identified the current stage, you can see who the responsible team members are by clicking on the Assigned To tab in the same Workflow Overview screen.

ⓘ Tip: The Assigned To tab shows you both the Team name and individual Members responsible for the current stage — use this to know exactly who to contact.

3

Contact the responsible team to action

Now that you know who is responsible for the current stage, you can reach out to the relevant team member to request that they action the application. Once they have completed their stage and moved the application forward, the Open or View button will become accessible to your team again.

✓ Quick resolution checklist

☐  Check the Current Stage in the Workflow Details tab
☐  Confirm the stage is not one assigned to your applicant
☐  Click Assigned To to see the responsible team and members
☐  Contact the listed team member to proceed with their stage
☐  Once actioned, retry the Open or View button

⚠ Note: If the application is in the Basic Credit Questionnaire or Request to Complete Information stage, it is currently with your applicant — not an internal team. You will need to follow up directly with your applicant to complete and submit their information.
